2002, this reverse-proof coin commemorates the Year of
the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar. The front of
the coin depicts a galloping steed, with the Chinese
symbol for "horse" on the right. Set against a satin
background, the polished, finely rendered stallion
stands out and commands attention. On the reverse is a
portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The coin is bezel-set in a polished yellow
gold frame and cradled within an upturned
horseshoe, which is crafted of textured yellow gold
with polished accents. Cleverly concealed behind the
ends of the horseshoe are two hidden bails, which allow
